So, you're thinking of buying a treadmill with iFit. Or maybe you’ve already purchased one. Either way, you'll probably want to know more about one neat feature which comes with the treadmill: iFit.

But what is iFit about? How do you use it? And what are the best iFit enabled treadmills? If you want to know the answers, this article is for you!

Back in the day, a treadmill was a simple machine. But as times have changed, so have treadmills. Today, most are equipped with the latest technology, created to make workouts more enjoyable and more efficient, even for the fittest of us.

What Is iFit?

iFit is a unique health-tracking platform, designed to give you an all-inclusive health coach experience through your phone and home workout equipment. iFit basically takes your workout to the next level.

This platform works to improve your workouts while providing you with nutritional advice and tracking your sleep patterns. It gives you the opportunity to reach your fullest potential.

How does iFit work?

One of iFit’s main features is that it enables you to run in almost any location across the planet, with the help of Google Maps and a screen. So instead of staring at the wall, you're able to "run" anywhere in the world. Of course, you can go for a run without it, but iFit is likely to put a fun spin on your daily workout routine.

What are the best iFit enabled treadmills?

There are a few different brands who produce treadmills with iFit. ProForm Fitness is one of the more popular brands, but there are also other brands like NordicTrack.

ProForm Fitness has become one of the leading brands in home fitness equipment, producing some of the most tech-rich machines. Most of their treadmills come with touchscreens, web browsers and MP3 speakers. Even with their lower-end machines, you still get an ample amount of technology to keep you running that extra mile.

Their treadmills are equipped with various workout options, so you can choose what fits your needs the best. Most of them have an incline feature which is great to burn those extra calories. Some of their newer models even have a downhill feature, simulating an outside track.

One unique feature ProForm Fitness has included with most of their treadmills is iFit.

How Do I Use iFit (on a ProForm Treadmill)?

As we've already established, iFit is a hallmark of most ProForm treadmills. In the newer, and more advanced models, it is usually easy accessed through a screen and Wi-Fi feature fitted on the treadmill.

Most of these come with a Bluetooth feature, so additionally, what you'll need is: an Android or IOS device to download the app, a Wi-Fi connection and, of course, an iFit membership.

Next, you'll need to sync your device to your treadmill. This varies from model to model, so read through the instruction manual. The iFit app comes with its own Bluetooth icon. Be sure to use that and not your device’s, to make sure it syncs correctly.

Then follow the walkthrough on your iFit app and schedule a workout. Once your workout is set up, you are ready to begin!

Older Models

If your treadmill’s software is not up-to-date, you'll need to update it. Go to the menu on your app and check if a firmware update is available. If yes, choose select. While the update is underway, keep your device within range of your treadmill.

If by some chance the update fails, it is recommended to force close the app and start again.

How to Control Your Workout Via iFit

You begin by choosing your workout. Once selected, you'll be able to control your speed and incline through two sliders, one on each side of the screen. This enables you to quickly swipe up for a more intense, uphill run, or take it down for a simple jog.

If you press the radio icon, you'll be able to choose the measurement system (miles or km) that you prefer. Return to the previous screen by pressing the incline or speed option.

Depending on your model, street view should be available. This feature lets you scroll through left and right to inspect statistics and various screens.

Conclusion

iFit is a great concept which can help you take your fitness to the next level or give you a boost to get started.

It usually comes with a wearable band which keeps track of your heart rate, counts your steps and lets you know when you need to get active throughout the day. It also tracks your sleep patterns to optimize your daily performance.

It's a remarkable feature to have on your treadmill as it can simulate an outdoor track, putting a new spin on your daily home run, jog or walk.
